October 2026 Flight Prices — Round-Trip Economy

Prices checked against Expedia, KAYAK, Skyscanner, and airline booking engines as of early May 2026. October is a shoulder/value month for TPE bookings; specific dates within Oct 12–23 consistently show lowest fares.

US Hubs (RT Economy):
LAX: ~$675–$900  |  SFO: ~$776–$950  |  SEA: ~$680–$900  |  JFK: ~$972–$1,350  |  IAH: ~$1,029–$1,400  |  IAD: ~$1,246–$1,600 (nonstop EVA Air launches Jun 26; economy fares expected to shift)

2026 Typhoon Season — Active Year Context

Two significant typhoons have already struck Taiwan in 2026:

Typhoon Sinlaku: Category 5 / super typhoon; landfall in Taiwan and Fujian. Estimated damages: $4.5B — costliest Taiwan typhoon impact since Lekima (2019).

Typhoon Peilou: Category 3 equivalent; landfall Taiwan; $700M losses, 6 fatalities.

Both landfalls occurred prior to May and carry no direct October travel impact. The typhoon season officially runs May–November; peak activity is July–September. By October, risk drops substantially. Late-October typhoons are rare but not unprecedented (a destructive one occurred late October 2024). No updated seasonal forecast specifically elevating October risk has been issued. The two active 2026 landfalls have not altered forecasters' October outlook, which remains consistent with historical averages: low risk, optimal travel conditions.

Weather — September–November

October (optimal): High 27°C / Low 22°C in Taipei. Fewest rainy days of the autumn season. Peak foliage at Taipingshan beech forest (Yilan County) mid-Oct to mid-Nov.

September: 28–32°C; typhoon season active; avoid if flexibility allows.

November: 20–25°C; NE monsoon increases rain on north and east coasts.

Key Events — October 2026
