Weather — September through November

October (optimal window): Average high 27°C (81°F), average low 22°C (72°F). Fewest rainy days of any month. Low humidity relative to summer. Clear skies predominate.

September: Transition month; temperatures 28–32°C; typhoon season active (June–October). Late-season typhoon risk highest in September–early October.

November: Temperatures drop to 20–25°C average high. Northeast monsoon increases rainfall on north and east coasts (Taipei, Hualien). South Taiwan (Kaohsiung, Tainan) remains drier.
Typhoon Risk — October: Tail-end of typhoon season. Risk is declining but non-zero. A major late-season typhoon struck Taiwan in late October 2024. Typhoons can suspend airport operations with 24-hour advance airline advisories. Carry travel insurance with weather disruption coverage.

TPE Airport (Taoyuan International): Located ~40 km west of central Taipei. MRT Airport Express (direct): ~35 min to Taipei Main Station, NTD 150 (~USD 4.60). Taxis: NTD 1,000–1,200 to city center. Terminal 1 (China Airlines, STARLUX); Terminal 2 (EVA Air, most international carriers).

TSA Airport (Taipei Songshan): Downtown Taipei; handles domestic routes and select regional international flights (Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Osaka). Confirm routing at booking.

Accommodation Notes

October is peak season in Taipei due to optimal weather and multiple holiday weekends. Book 2–3 months in advance minimum for central Taipei (Da'an, Zhongzheng, Zhongshan districts) or popular destinations (Jiufen, Taroko, Sun Moon Lake). Long weekend of Oct 24–26 particularly constrained.
